Is nonstandard measurement in your curriculum? Use a song to help the students comprehend measurement and comparison. Measurement Song (condensed to the "twelfth day" and sung to the tune of "The Twelve Days of Christmas") by Ingrid Sherwood. On the twelfth day of measurement, My teacher said to me, "Let's compare time. Let's compare temperature. Let's compare mass. Let's compare weight. Let's compare volume. Let's compare area. Let's compare length. Isn't measurement fun?! Let's compare width. Compare height. Let's compare size. And measurement is when we compare."
